Some Highlights

2022 felt like two years. January to July showed some of the highest volume of home sales in a generation.

But Q4 saw sharp decreases in home sales and inspections, far more than a typical winter.

Prices

Many home inspectors reported raising prices in the spring to keep pace with inflation and demand. But in 2022, the average home inspection quote nationwide actually dropped slightly.

Inspections

Inspections in Q4 dropped nearly 75% from their August high. But nationally, inspections are still higher than they were during 2020.

Attrition

Solo inspectors dropped out of the market in modest numbers; much of the market share is claimed by multi-inspector companies.
